Drainage: Relieving Flooding in the House and Yard
Winter in Victoria means RAIN, RAIN, RAIN. Unfortunately,
with the rains comes the inevitable flooding of yards, basements, patios,
garages and so on. In a city built on hills and valleys (and of course
the unpredictable underlying bedrock), we are subject to rising water tables
and reanimated underground streams as the land struggles to absorb the
approximately 1500 mm (59 in) of water that falls from the skies each winter
season (the parched winter of 2000/2001 notwithstanding). Enter the perforated
pipe drainage system.
